Hepatitis A is a viral liver infection it spreads through ingestion of contaminated food or water. Symptoms include fatigue, jaundice, nausea, and abdominal pain. Vaccination effectively prevents it as well as good hygiene and safe food practices reduce transmission risk.
When to get vaccinated: 2 weeks before travelling
Schedule: one dose
Boosters: one vaccine will cover for a year, a booster 6 -12 months after the first dose will cover for 25 years
Administration: injection in the upper arm
Side effects: fever and pain at injection site
